Overview
In his recent book, Flex: The Art and Science of Leadership in a Changing World, Dr Jeffrey Hull shares the secrets, strategies, and science underlying his work in organisations, with leaders of all kinds of teams. He wrote ‘Flex’ as a guide for leaders who today are managing a kaleidoscope of people from a variety of cultures and across a range of ages, all of whom are wired together 24/7, in a world where charisma and strategic-thinking abilities now matter less than qualities such as vulnerability and relatability.
Barbara Walsh speaks with Jeff Hull this month about the concepts in ‘Flex’, and how these may be used to great effect by team coaches. Although written for leaders, the further she got into the book, the more convinced Barbara became of its value to team coaches. Dr Jeffrey Hull is globally recognized for his expertise in the field of organizational and leadership development. In addition to being CEO of Leadershift, Inc. (a management consultancy based in New York City), Dr. Hull is Director of Education & Business Development at the Institute of Coaching, McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School Affiliate, a clinical instructor in psychology at Harvard Medical School, and an adjunct professor of leadership at New York University.
Although he works as an executive coach, consultant and facilitator, and is a best-selling author and key-note speaker, Jeff Hull considers himself to be more of an organizational anthropologist – always on the lookout for the patterns, the shifts and undercurrents of change that our places of work experience on a daily basis.
